Arsenal will play two more Women’s Super League (WSL) games at Emirates Stadium during the 2023/24 campaign, taking the total to five matches for next season.

Confirmed:

  • Five-game packages will be offered to fans covering all WSL games at Emirates Stadium
  • All Uefa Women’s Champions League (UWCL) matches from the group stage onwards will also be held at the venue next season

Context:

Arsenal set a new WSL attendance record against rivals Tottenham Hotspur last September, with more than 53,000 tickets sold for the game. More recently, the club had a sold-out crowd of over 60,000 for their UWCL semi-final second leg against Wolfsburg this month.

The announcement comes amid a report from The Times that the prize money for this weekend’s Women’s FA Cup final has risen to UK£100,000 (US$126,000), four times more than last season. Clubs, however, will not receive any of the gate receipts from the sold-out match at Wembley Stadium.

Comment:

“This latest announcement ensures that as many supporters as possible can enjoy the matchday experience with us, as we continue to support the sustainable growth of women’s football,” said Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal chief executive.

Coming next:

Arsenal are next in WSL action away at Everton on 17th May.
