World Sailing renews Rolex partnership

Luxury watch brand continues sponsorship of body’s awards and rulebook.

World Sailing has renewed its sponsorship deal with Rolex for another year.

The luxury watch brand will again sponsor the Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards in 2016, fulfilling a role it has held since 2001. The awards will take place at the World Sailing Annual Conference in the Spanish city of Barcelona in November, where each winner will be presented with a specially engraved Rolex watch.

Rolex will also continue to sponsor the Racing Rules of Sailing.

Andy Hunt, the chief executive of World Sailing, said: “Rolex have a long and esteemed history within sailing and their extended support of the Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards is further evidence of their outstanding commitment to supporting our sport.

“The Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards highlights the qualities of our world's leading athletes from commitment and determination to performance and prestige. These same qualities can be found in long running partnership with Rolex.”
