The American fashion brand Polo Ralph Lauren will extend its sponsorship of the U.S Open Tennis Championships for a further five years.
Polo, whose current deal would've expired after this year's tournament ended, has been a US Open sponsor since 2005. Under terms of the new deal the luxury clothing line will provide apparel for match officials, umpires and ball boys and will pay roughly US$8 million sponsorship.
In a separate deal completed with American tennis Star Venus Williams, Polo will utilize the world's No. 4 ranked women's tennis player to produce a one-off webcast tennis clinic, in a move that, if deemed to have been a success, could see the pair partnering in the near future.
"It's kind of a get-to-know you process, and hopefully the clinic will be high-profile enough to bring some attention for our relationship and how we do," said David Lauren, Polo's senior vice president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications. "This is a way to test the relationship and see how we can work together."
Additionally Polo and Williams will produce a co-branded tennis dress that will be sold on-site at the open.
