The United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Warner Bros Discovery have struck a multi-year broadcast partnership extension that will see the US Open Grand Slam remain on the Eurosport pay-TV network in France.

Confirmed:

  • Tournament to air on Eurosport’s linear channels and app in ‘long term’ renewal
  • Deal includes men’s and women’s singles and doubles tournaments, as well as the wheelchair competitions
  • Partnership was brokered by agency giant IMG

Context:

Last month, the USTA and Warner Bros Discovery extended its European rights deal for the US Open, covering 45 territories, until 2027. That partnership excluded several major markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. In addition to the US Open, the media giant’s tennis content offering in France also includes the Australian Open, the ATP Tour and the ATP Finals event.

Coming next:

In the buildup to the 2023 edition of the US Open, the USTA will look to tie down deals in the aforementioned European markets. In the UK the US Open is set to return to Sky Sports, but the deals for other key territories are yet to be finalised. Having previously held the rights in all of those countries, Warner Bros Discovery could be in contention for all of these rights before this year’s championships get underway on 28th August.
