DAZN sublicenses Women’s Champions League final to 12 EBU broadcasters

Agreement covers Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Poland, Serbia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced an agreement with sports streaming service DAZN that will see 12 EBU members broadcast the 2023 Uefa Women’s Champions League final.

Contract:

  • The 12 EBU member broadcasters that will show live coverage are Austria’s ORF, Belgium’s RTBF, Croatia’s HRT, Finland’s YLE, Germany’s ZDF, Iceland’s RUV, the Netherlands’ NOS, Ireland’s RTE, Poland’s TVP, Serbia’s RTS, Sweden’s SVT, and Switzerland’s SRG
  • SVT will share coverage with commercial broadcaster TV4 in Sweden 
  • The majority of the 12 EBU members will broadcast the match live on linear TV and via their digital channels
  • The match will also be shown by DAZN and on YouTube

Context:

This is the latest women’s soccer rights deal agreed by Eurovision Sport, the sports arm of the EBU, having secured the rights to this summer’s 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup for its members in 28 countries.

Comment:

“As world leaders in the broadcast and streaming of women’s sport, we believe that both the competition and football fans will benefit from the expert coverage and free-to-air exposure that our members guarantee,” said Stefan-Eric Wildemann, Eurovision Sport’s head of football.

Coming next:

The agreement will boost the reach of the Women’s Champions League final, which takes place on 3rd June between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.
