Catalan public service broadcaster TV3 has struck a sublicensing rights deal for Formula One with Spanish telco Telefónica.
TV3 will show coverage of the premier motorsport world championship after an agreement with Movistar TV +, holder of the Spanish rights to the competition. The Spanish Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalonia in May, will be shown in its entirety on TV3, which has also gained a 60-minute highlights package to each of the other 20 races.
It had been thought that TV3 would not renew its broadcasting rights deal for Formula One after originally declining to carry on a deal which expired in 2015.
Last year’s race at the historic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was won by Mercedes’ German driver Nico Roseberg.
