US broadcaster Turner Sports has secured a deal with Electronic Arts (EA) Sports for its Eleague esports series to become the US broadcast home of the FIFA 20 Global Series qualifying events, which provide the entrants to the annual Fifa eWorld Cup tournament.

The deal sees Eleague produce a new episodic series on TBS and three FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Champions Cup events across North America and Europe throughout 2020. The first event will be at the Eleague Arena in Atlanta on 17th January, before the series shifts to Europe.

The Eleague is set to televise the best moments from the FIFA 20 Global Series qualifiers and the Fifa eWorld Cup 2020, with viewers also getting access to key matches and behind-the-scenes interviews through episodic content.

Jennifer Dill, vice-president of esports at Turner Sports, said: “In addition to the role Eleague will play in the growth of EA Sports FIFA 20 as a top-tier esport and viewing experience, we are looking forward to leveraging the full breadth of Turner Sports’ platforms and sports programming to drive additional excitement surrounding the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series.”

Brent Koning, EA Sports Fifa’s competitive gaming commissioner, added: “This year’s partnership with Eleague and the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series is much larger in scope and will bring the world’s esport to the masses in North America and beyond.”
