Top-flight English soccer side Tottenham Hotspur have announced a long-term extension of their principal partnership with life insurance company AIA Group Limited (AIA) until the end of the 2026/27 season, in a deal reportedly worth UK£320 million (US$396 million).

The UK£40 million (US$49.5 million) a year figure, reported by various UK media outlets, puts Spurs in line with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in regards to their shirt sponsorship, adding around UK£5 million a year to the previous extension signed in 2017.

This renewed agreement apparently replaces the former deal and will see the partnership span well over a decade, after AIA signed on as the Premier League club’s cup shirt partner in 2013, before expanding that to all shirts ahead of the 2014/15 season. The renewal in 2017 saw AIA become the club’s global principal partner, with that agreement running until 2022.

The latest deal ensures that the AIA brand will continue to appear on the front of Spurs’ men’s, women’s and academy team shirts in all competitions until 2027.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy said: “This renewed and extended partnership demonstrates the strength and success of our well-established relationship with AIA and underlines the positive impact we have been able to bring to AIA’s brand and business.”

Ng Keng Hooi, AIA Group chief executive, added: “The enormous popularity of the English Premier League and Spurs across our markets, coupled with the ongoing success of the club on the field, which culminated in the Champions League final appearance earlier this year, make this an ideal time to extend our partnership.

“As the club’s global principal partner, we will continue to create many opportunities for our customers, agents, employees and local communities to interact with Spurs players, coaching and support staff.”
