Samsung, Videocon and Hyundai have been named as sponsors of the third edition of the Indian Premier League by Multi Screen Media, signing some five months before the competition begins.

The three partnerships, worth in the region of US$8.5 million each according to Indian press reports, further underline the appeal of a league that has revolutionised cricket in the two years of its existence.

Indeed, the overall strength of Indian cricket has been demonstrated in a week that has also seen the Board of Control for Cricket in India secure a four-yar extension for its broadcast rights, not including the rights to the IPL, worth well over US$500 million.
