- Israeli company’s solutions will be used across Tencent’s sports output
- WSC Sports tools capable of increasing highlights output ten times and production efficiency by 12 times
Tencent has agreed a deal with artificial intelligence (AI) specialist WSC Sports to develop new video production solutions for the Chinese streaming giant’s domestic market.
As part of the three-year agreement, WSC Sports will also provide Tencent Sports, and the company’s other divisions, with automatic video solutions to create personalised content distributed to Tencent’s more than 100 million users and subscribers.
WSC Sports' video tools will be deployed across Tencent’s National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL) and Premier League soccer coverage, as well as other content.
As a result of mobile broadband infrastructure upgrades, including the introduction of 5G, short form video is becoming a key pillar of Tencent’s digital strategy. The WSC Sports partnership is designed to support that strategy, with the Israeli company’s solutions said to be capable of increasing the output of sports highlights by ten times and enhancing production efficiency by 12 times.
In addition, Tencent and WSC Sports say they will work together to develop new 'innovative solutions to disrupt the sports consumption experience in China’ – although a release announcing the partnership did not provide specific details.
“China boasts one of the most robust sports fanbases in the world, with interest across multiple sports and leagues worldwide,” said WSC Sports co-founder and chief business development officer, Aviv Arnon.
“This partnership is aimed at growing that fandom by providing Chinese sports fans with personalised and innovative experiences and exposing them to a large variety of content with which they can engage.”
