Surfing Australia has announced a three-year partnership with digital imaging and photography company Nikon, while four-time world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore has become an ambassador for the Japanese brand’s Coolpix AW100 camera.

The partnership sees Nikon become the official camera of Surfing Australia, while Gilmore will be the face of a locally-produced print, television and online marketing campaign to promote the brand's Coolpix AW100 camera.

Andrew Stark, chief executive of Surfing Australia said: “Surfing and photography go hand in hand as both are about capturing that one beautiful moment that you can’t recreate. We’re delighted to partner with Nikon. Through the partnership we look forward to bringing Australia’s surfing community some exciting photographic and film content, as well as various partner benefits over the coming years”

Nick Segger, senior marketing manager, Nikon Australia, added: “We’re thrilled to be the camera brand that Surfing Australia has chosen to partner with. This partnership brings together two of Australia’s greatest passions – the beach and photography.  Through this association, we’re excited that Stephanie is on board as the face of the Coolpix AW100. Steph embodies everything there is to an active, outdoor lifestyle, and given her keen interest in photography, it’s the perfect fit.  After the success of our global I AM campaign internationally, it made sense to work with Steph in our first locally-produced component of the campaign.”
