“This season we are aiming to reach fourth place,” said Qiao Weiguang, chairman of the Zhongneng Group, which owns the club. Aucma chairman Tang Xingyun praised the impact of the Zhongneng Group since its takeover of the team, saying the side is now rightly regarded as one of the best teams in China.

Recent weeks have seen a surge in investment in the league, including Pirelli’s title sponsorship. The competition begins later this month.
