Springboks toast new deal with Klipdrift

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has announced a new five-year agreement with South African brandy brand Klipdrift.

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has announced a new five-year agreement with South African brandy brand Klipdrift.

Under terms of the deal, financial details of which were not released, Klipdrift will serve as the official brandy supplier to the South African national rugby union team the Springboks.

In this capacity Klipdrift will enjoy exclusive pouring rights at all SARU functions as well as the use of the Springbok’s branding and image rights in marketing and advertising campaigns.

“We are very fortunate to have a number of extremely keen sponsors as part of our family and we’re excited to be working with Klipdrift for the next five years,” said SARU chief executive Jurie Roux. "South African hospitality and generosity are synonymous with Klipdrift and SARU is excited to have them join the SARU sponsorship family.”

Wim Buhrmannm, chief executive of Klipdrift's parent company Distell South Africa, added, "Klipdrift and Springbok rugby are both iconic brands that embody optimism, strong traditional heritage and above all are proudly South African. This combination makes Klipdrift very proud and excited to be welcoming the Springboks into the Distell family, a relationship that will only be nurtured with the greatest of respect and pride."
