SportsMax has acquired a package of rights to show action from the WTA Tour in the Caribbean until 2016.

The broadcaster’s parent company, International Media Content Ltd (IMC), has signed a four-year agreement with Swedish rights agency IEC in Sports, the company appointed to handle the WTA’s media rights over the course of the current cycle in partnership with Perform.

SportsMax will broadcast a total of 22 tournaments per year, beginning with next week’s Qatar Total Open.

SportsMax marketing manager Tanya Lee said: “With a list of high profile players, WTA tennis will be a great addition to our already strong line-up of football, cricket, track and field, and boxing programming.”

“We continue to build on the best sports line-up on television in the Caribbean, as we look to cater to all sports lovers.”
