Sport1 in Germany is to air matches from the upcoming Uefa European Under-21 Championship.

The broadcaster will show four live games not involving Germany, plus the final of the tournament if Germany does not feature. All five matches will be shown on free-to-air TV and on an exclusive basis.

The four selected group-stage matches will be England versus Portugal on 18th June, Italy versus Portugal on 21st June, Denmark versus Serbia on 23rd June, and one of either England versus Italy or Portugal versus Sweden on 24th June.

Though Sport1 will not showcase Germany’s matches, the broadcaster does plan to report on all of the country’s ties during a highlights show.

Sport1 has sub-licensed the rights from German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, whose sports rights agency SportA was reported to have picked up the German rights to the soccer tournament in early May.

This year’s Uefa European Under-21 Championship takes place in the Czech Republic from 17th to 30th June.
