Infront Sports & Media, working on behalf of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIF), has announced the signing of three main sponsors for the country's national ice hockey team, currently ranked third in the world.
With the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships in Slovakia just three weeks away, Czech car company Skoda, German retail chain Bauhaus and Danish beer brand Carlsberg have all agreed to sponsor Sweden's ice hockey team for the duration of the 2011 season.
All three deals include brand presence and signage on advertising boards at all of the national team's home games, whilst the logos of Skoda, already a partner of the team, and Bauhaus will feature on the team's playing shirts.
To activate its sponsorship of the team, Carlsberg, in collaboration with the SIF, will promote the 'Hockey Legends' project. Described by Infront in a press release as an online 'official hall of fame', www.hockeylegends.se is a newly launched website dedicated to celebrating some of Sweden's greatest ice hockey players
Financial terms of the agreements were not released.
In Sweden will host the IIHF World Championships in 2013.
