In a deal brokered by IMG, Czech car manufacturer Skoda has extended its sponsorship of the Spengler Cup, an annual invitational ice hockey tournament held in Davos, Switzerland.

The deal builds upon Skoda’s existing commitment to ice hockey, which includes an agreement with the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and another with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIF).

Skoda is a third-tier partner of the Spengler Cup. Other sponsors include Generali, Würth and UBS.

First held in 1923, the Spengler Cup is hosted by Swiss side HC Davos and involves a different six team line-up each year competing for one of the oldest ice hockey trophies in the world.

This year’s edition, which involves hosts HC Davos, Kloten Flyers, Dinamo Riga, Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg, Team Canada and HC Vitkovice, takes place from 26th to 31st December.
