- Real Sociedad had been without front-of-shirt sponsor since Iqoniq deal ended after 2020/21
- Finetwork sealed jersey sponsorship agreement with Real Betis in August
Spanish top-flight soccer outfit Real Sociedad have announced telecommunications operator Finetwork as their new main shirt sponsor for the 2021/22 season.
Financial terms of the partnership have not been disclosed, though the sports business outlet 2Playbook notes that, in recent years, the sponsorship package had been on the market for approximately €1.5 million (US$1.7 million) per year.
Real Sociedad had started the campaign without a front-of-shirt sponsor, after their agreement with fan engagement platform Iqoniq ended at the conclusion of 2020/21.
For Finetwork, it secures the company’s second jersey sponsorship with a La Liga team this season, having struck a multi-year deal with Real Betis in August. Finetwork also has a partnership with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
“This agreement is an important bet for Finetwork, for sport and for a historical club in Spanish football like la Real Sociedad,” said Manuel Hernández, chief executive of Finetwork. “We both believe that by doing things differently and with a lot of effort, you will be able to reach the top and compete with the greatest.”
Jokin Aperribay, Real Sociedad’s president, added: “La Real Sociedad will proudly wear this new shirt both in La Liga and in Europe as our agreement with Finetwork remains attentive to the same attitudes and values. In this way, the effort, perseverance and teamwork of both entities meet to achieve maximum success together.”
Having finished fifth in La Liga last season, Real Sociedad have made a strong start to the new campaign and currently sit joint top of the league after eight games played. The Basque club next face Mallorca on 16th October.
