Spanish soccer giants Real Madrid have launched a new Facebook subscription service costing €2.49 (US$2.77) with the aim to monetise their 110 million followers on the platform.

The ‘Madridista Nation’ service will provide subscribers with the ability to display the La Liga club’s crest on both their Facebook profiles and comments as a ‘sticker’. Subscribers also gain access to exclusive Real Madrid content, as well as club promotions and a private supporters discussion group.

Los Blancos follow their rivals Barcelona in launching a Facebook subscription model, with the latter having done so September. Barca’s offering provides similar benefits to that of their Madrid counterparts, but costs more at US$2.99 per month.

Real Madrid currently sit second in La Liga, behind Barcelona on goal difference.
