Australian Football League (AFL) team Sydney Swans have agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways.

The Doha-based airline's branding will appear throughout the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during Swans home games and at the Australian rules football outfit's training base. Swans players will also make promotional appearances for Qatar Airways.

“AFL is part of Australian culture,” said Qatar Airways Australia country manager Adam Radwanski. “It is all about expanding awareness of our brand and will help us achieve our commercial goals.”

The sponsorship is Qatar Airways' first in Australian sport, though it is a backer of cultural properties such as the Melbourne Theatre Company and Adelaide Fringe Festival.
