Electric vehicle street racing series Formula E has confirmed a tie-up with Qatar Airways, naming the Doha-based carrier as its official airline partner for the Paris and New York ePrix.
In addition, it will serve as the title sponsor of the Paris race, which for 2017 will be known as the Qatar Airways Paris ePrix, and will take place around Les Invalides on 20th May.
The first ever New York ePrix, meanwhile, will take place in Red Hook, Brooklyn on 15th and 16th July.
“We are delighted to be named the official airline partner of the Formula E electric car races in Paris and New York,” said Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airways Group. “We are very pleased to be able to support this environmentally friendly sport that promotes the latest technological innovations in producing alternative energy solutions for electric cars.
