Austrian beer brand Puntigamer has renewed its longstanding sponsorship deal with Austrian Bundesliga soccer side SK Sturm Graz.

The renewal, which continues a partnership originally signed in 1996, will run for three years and includes a one-year extension option.

The company, a subsidiary of Brau Union, which itself is part of the Heineken Group, will continue as the front-of-shirt sponsor of the club and will receive considerable branding at the team’s Merkur Arena.

“Since 1996, we have supported Sturm Graz in both good and difficult times,” said Brau Union Austria marketing director Andreas Steiber.

“Sports fans and beer lovers have a lot in common. They have a lot of heart and appreciate a merry time.”

The deal is now the longest-running sponsorship in Austrian soccer’s history.

SK Sturm Graz are three-time champions of the Austrian Bundesliga, last claiming the title in 2011. This season they finished fifth, as Red Bull Salzburg dominated the league.
