French soccer champions Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed a new partnership with lottery and gambling company Française des Jeux (FDJ), which will see the firm’s sportsbook ParionsSport become the club’s principal betting partner.
The deal is worth €5 million (US$5.1 million) per season according to French sports publication L’Équipe, which initially reported the partnership in March.
Becoming a premium partner of Les Parisiens in a three-year agreement that runs until 2025, FDJ will look to strengthen its position within the French sports betting market, with the deal set to also include immersive fan experiences.
As PSG’s new betting partner, ParionsSport replaces Unibet, which had first partnered with the club for the 2018/19 season.
“We are delighted about this first partnership with Paris-Saint-Germain,” said Richard Courtois, chief executive of sports betting at FDJ.
“We are proud to team up with such a popular and successful club. This long-term partnership strengthens our position as a major stakeholder in sports betting in France and will enable us to share exclusive experiences with the club’s fans.
“We will activate this partnership responsibly and enthusiastically in order to reach the whole PSG and betting community.”
Marc Armstrong, chief partnerships officer at Paris Saint-Germain, added, “FDJ is a major player in the sports betting industry. We share their ambition to perform at the top level and are both highly committed to social responsibility.
“Together, we will treat our fans to ever more innovative experiences while ensuring that we promote ethical and responsible sports betting.”
