Paris Saint-Germain have revealed that they twice broke Fanatics’ daily sales record for a physical retail store in Asia during the French soccer giants’ preseason tour of Japan.
For the opening game of the tour against Frontale at the National Stadium in Tokyo on 20th July, sales surpassed JP¥100 million (US$738,055), before the second game on 23rd July against the Urawa Reds at the Saitama Stadium set a new revenue record.
Fanatics set up retail stores at each of the three venues hosting PSG games during the tour, with those locations seeing more than 10,000 customers purchase products during the two fixtures. Each store offered more than 100 products, of which around half were designed specifically for the tour.
“Paris Saint-Germain is a well-supported club in Japan and it was important that we were able to provide its fans based here with a wide selection of products and a brilliant fan experience at each of the three games,” said Masanori Kawana, managing director for East Asia at Fanatics.
“Having operated retail at many other global sporting events held in the region, the results of this tour have far exceeded our expectations and they are undoubtedly a result of the hard work of our team based in Japan, which has worked in partnership with the club to create a range of bespoke products for this tour designed specifically for the Japanese fan.
Fabien Allegre, PSG’s chief brand officer, added: “We are super proud to see the success of our brand with our Japanese fans and we would like to thank them as well as Fanatics for their support delivering high standard operations.”
