The 19-year-old from Sao Paulo, who finished tenth on the 2012 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Championship Tour, joins an Oakley roster that includes several top surfers, including Julian Wilson, Bruce Irons, Jordy Smith and Kolohe Andino.

Oakley plans to release Medina's signature series of sunglasses by the end of this year.

Between his aggressive approach to aerial innovation and his passion for competition, we believe that he is a perfect fit for the Oakley family.”

Medina added: “I am very happy that everything has worked out. I have always wanted to be part of the Oakley team. I ́m sure it will be a great partnership.”

Medina is set to compete at March’s Quiksilver Pro presented by Land Rover in Gold Coast, Australia, the first event on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour schedule.
