Melbourne-headquartered Choice Hotels has agreed a sponsorship deal which incldues the naming rights to Australia’s PGA Pro-Am Series.

The deal will see the series, which includes all pro-am events held across Australia from 1st April to 31st December 2013, comprising 200 events played at more than 160 courses, renamed the 2013 Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series.

The series will see one amateur competitor win a pro-am spot at the Australian PGA Championship to be played at the RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast in November.

Choice Hotels will also offer discounted rates to PGA professionals throughout 2013.

Choice Hotels’ chief executive Trent Fraser said: “The sports market is an important part of our overall business mix and golf plays a very important role in this. We have a number of well located properties within close proximity to many of the wonderful golf courses around Australia and we are looking forward to hosting the PGA professionals, staff and members as they traverse the country in search of that perfect round.”

“We are pleased to align with Choice Hotels for the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series,” said Brian Thorburn, chief executive of the PGA of Australia. “Our members spend many nights away from home competing in pro-am tournaments so the fit between our two organisations seemed obvious. We are looking forward to working with the team at Choice Hotels to ensure the continued success of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series and the promotion of golf throughout Australia.”
