Golf apparel brand Perry Ellis International (PEI) has extended its licensing agreement with the PGA Tour.
The deal will see PEI design, manufacture and distribute PGA Tour-branded men's, ladies and boys' golf apparel throughout Canada and Latin America, two regions into which the PGA Tour has recently expanded.
The PGA Tour assumed operational control of the Canadian Professional Golf Tour last November and rebranded it as PGA Tour Canada. The new tour, which will run for the first time this summer, followslast year's launch of PGA Tour Latinoamérica, which features 15 tournaments in nine Latin American countries.
PEI initially acquired a PGA Tour license for the US in 2004 and has now extended its role until 2017. The company therefore remains the exclusive US apparel licensee for the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, and Web.com Tour brands covering department and chain stores.
Products for PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Latinoamérica will be rolled out this spring. The collection will include men's, women's and boys' shirts, outerwear, sweaters, trousers and shorts.
“We are extremely excited to continue strengthening our existing relationship with the PGA Tour, extending this powerful apparel brand into these promising new markets,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, president and chief operating officer of Perry Ellis International.
“The PGA Tour continues to gain huge momentum across both international and domestic markets and these agreements, designating Perry Ellis International as the sole PGA Tour apparel distributor in the Western Hemisphere, further solidifies our global approach towards the entire golf lifestyle.”
Tim Hawes, PGA Tour senior vice president of retail licensing, added: “Perry Ellis International has long been one of the most important lines in our mix of business. We recognise them as one of the leading apparel marketers in the world. It is our intention to take this already substantial business to the next level in terms of volume and retail performance.”
