Newly launched basketball league Overtime Elite (OTE) has signed a trading card deal with Topps ahead of its inaugural 2021 season.

The deal with the developmental league will see Topps produce physical trading cards for all 24 of OTE’s inaugural players.

The first four cards are available for purchase on Topps’ online website, as well as the Overtime shop, with more drops to be released imminently.

Topps’ OTE products will feature in Overtime’s online and digital content, with a new content series already planned that will see artists design special editions of the trading cards.

The partnership will also produce cards for the Topps Chrome and Topps Inception series, which will be available at US retail stores such as Target and Walmart. The first drop of these in December will include cards of all 24 players, in addition to bonus cards.

“At OTE, giving our athletes as many ways to connect with fans as possible is a top priority and partnering with Topps is an integral piece of that,” said Aaron Ryan, OTE’s commissioner and president.

“Having your own trading card is something many kids dream about, especially young athletes, so to have Topps on board to make these dreams a reality is a huge deal for us and our athletes.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of bringing their brand back into basketball with the next generation of stars.”

David Leiner, global general manager of Topps, added: “We’re excited to partner with Overtime Elite to capture their historic inaugural season through trading cards.

“As Topps continues to expand our footprint, we’re proud to add OTE to our portfolio and be the first to showcase basketball’s rising talent.”
