Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur has become the latest athlete to sign for Evolve, the agency founded last year by Naomi Osaka and her agent Stuart Duguid.
Confirmed:
- Evolve to represent 28-year-old going forward
- Jabeur becomes the third tennis star to join the agency
- Experienced executive Adel Aref will also help guide Jabeur’s career
Comment:
“Ons is an ideal Evolve client,” said Evolve co-founder Duguid. “As an Arab woman from Africa, she is a trailblazer and a truly captivating tennis player. Her influence extends beyond sports and into wider culture, and her impact on the Middle East and beyond is transformative.
“There are tremendous opportunities for Ons in the Arab world, and she is also poised for global breakthrough.
“Alongside Nick Kyrgios, I believe she will be a standout star in the Netflix series Break Point.”
Context:
Osaka and Duguid left IMG in May last year in order to establish their own agency, with the intention of allowing athletes to have full control over their business ventures, and later signed up Kyrgios as Evolve’s first client in July.
Coming next:
Adding the second-ranked women’s player is a major coup for Evolve, which will now look to start securing new commercial opportunities for Jabeur.
When Evolve first launched, Duguid told US sports business publication Sportico that the company would only look to sign one or two additional clients, stating that its aim is not to become a large organisation.
