Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has become the first client to sign with Naomi Osaka’s newly launched Evolve agency.

Evolve will now oversee the six-time ATP Tour winner’s brand partnerships, investments, and charitable endeavours, as well as pursuing opportunities for athlete-owned businesses.

In May, four-time grand slam champion Osaka left IMG in order to establish her own company alongside her agent Stuart Duguid, with the aim of taking full control over her business ventures.

Duguid, who left his role as IMG’s senior vice president for the past six years, will now represent Kyrgios going forward.

Duguid has been a tennis agent since 2010 and has overseen a number of Osaka’s partnership deals, enabling the Japanese tennis star to become one of the highest-paid athletes in all sports. Last year, Osaka ranked second in SportsPro’s 50 Most Marketable Athletes list, having ranked number one the year prior.

“When I learned that Stuart and Naomi were starting an agency focused on supporting athletes like me, it made complete sense to join,” Kyrgios said.

“I have consistently tried to do things differently throughout my career and bring my entire personality to the game of tennis. I’m excited to work with Stuart and Naomi to continue building on what we’ve started and push the game of tennis forward.”

Duguid added: “Nick is one of one. A truly special tennis player and person and I’m excited to continue working with him.

“Evolve is a unique place for a small number of generational athletes who can transcend their sport and influence broader culture – Nick is most definitely in that category.”
