The National Football League (NFL) has reportedly signed a broadcast rights agreement with China's Alibaba Group.
Ali Sports, the newly created sports unit of the e-commerce giant, will show games, highlights and weekly programming from the league through its various platforms in mainland China.
Specific terms of the agreement have not been released, but it is thought that Ali Sports will dedicate a special section of its platforms to next month's Super Bowl 50.
According to Yutang Sports, the NFL becomes the first major property to secure airtime on Ali Sports' sports channels.
“It’s a great honour to (have) Ali Sports as our official media partner,” said Richard Yang, the general manager at NFL China.
“NFL and American football have rapidly developed in China, and we’re excited and hopeful about the sport’s prospect in China.”
