German basketball star Dirk Nowitzki has extended his personal endorsement contract with ING-DiBa, according to Sponsors.de.
The Dallas Mavericks forward will continue to serve as an ambassador for the bank until 2017, after renewing a deal that began in 2003.
Nowitzki serves as the face of ING-DiBa, which is based in Frankfurt, in his home market of Germany. As part of the new deal the two parties will primarily collaborate on a number of community initiatives.
Nowitzki earns over US$20 million per year, according to Forbes, but just US$500,000 of that is thought to come from endorsements. In 2011 the 37-year-old told German magazine Spiegel that he intentionally steers clear of having too many deals.
“I am satisfied with what I have,” he said. “How crazy do you have to be when you can afford everything but still clutter up your life with all sorts of advertising appointments? No thanks.”
