  • Verizon becomes exclusive 5G provider for MSE
  • Company already has a deal with NHL to install ultra-fast network at select venues

Telecommunications giant Verizon has been named as the exclusive 5G provider for Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), the ownership group of Washington DC’s National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL) franchises.

The expansive partnership will see Verizon work with MSE to integrate a 5G network at Capital One Arena, where the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals play their home games.

In addition, when Capital One Arena opens to fans again, Verizon will run a series of activations for event-going supporters, including the chance to win tickets and behind-the-scenes experiences.

Verizon is already the official 5G partner of the NHL in the US as part of a deal that involves the installation of the ultra-fast technology at select venues.

The company also recently announced a 5G-focused partnership with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, whose fans have been able to access unique experiences via the team’s mobile application as part of the deal.

Meanwhile, the Wizards have also announced that they are expanding their digital footprint with the launch of new platforms in Israel. The basketball franchise have created a team website in Hebrew, as well as the NBA’s first Israeli Instagram account.
