Ivan Gazidis, Arsenal Football Club’s new chief executive, has hired Tom Fox to be the English Premier League club’s chief commercial officer. Fox is a veteran of the sports industry having worked at the National Basketball Association, Nike and Gatorade.
He worked at the NBA as director of sponsor programs for NBA Properties in 1993, then went to Hong Kong in 1995 as vice president and managing director of NBA Asia.
Fox then joined Nike in February 1997 to run its Asian sports marketing business. He moved to the company’s U.S. operations as sports marketing director in September 1997.
Fox joined former Gatorade parent Quaker Oats in 1985 in its brand management program and moved to Gatorade’s sports marketing department in 1988. He returned to Gatorade in 1999 as senior vice president, sports marketing.
Fox left Gatorade in 2007 for a consulting position at Wasserman Media Group. He left WMG in November.
