Joie Chitwood joins International Speedway Corp as VP business operations

Joie Chitwood, chief operating officer of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 2004, is joining Nascar circuit-operator International Speedway Corporation where he will be vice president of business operations.

The IMS has yet to announce if a full-time replacement will be sought for him. Chitwood led the pursuit of a MotoGP race at the Speedway and keyed the organization of the Centennial Era, which represents the first 100 years of the facility.

Chitwood said he began considering his career options earlier this year and decided returning to his home state of Florida was important for his family.
