Mobil 1 has extended and expanded its long-term agreement with Porsche's motorsport division. The new deal will see the oil company support Porsche's return to top-level endurance racing in 2014.
The German manufacturer is currently building a new LMP1 programme for the World Endurance Championship, with a testing programme likely to begin next year.
Mobil 1 has been a Porsche partner since 1996 in the Porsche Supercup and in its road car programmes.
“For nearly two decades, Mobil 1 and Porsche have partnered on some of the most exciting advances in high-performance automotive engines and lubricants,” said Alan Kelly, the president of ExxonMobil fuels, lubricants and specialties marketing.
“Working alongside the passionate and innovative engineers at Porsche has allowed us to develop advanced lubrication technologies specifically to protect and optimise the performance of every Porsche engine.”
Wolfgang Hatz, the member of the Porshe AG executive board responsible for research and development added: “Teaming with the Mobil 1 technology experts has helped Porsche to achieve its outstanding racing performance and meet the expectations consumers hold for our brand. We are delighted to extend our technical partnership.”
