Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) has signed a US$4 million, four-year sponsorship agreement with leading fantasy sports gaming website DraftKings.com.

MLSE, the biggest sports company in Canada, operates the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Soccer (MLS) side Toronto FC, as well as several other minor league teams.

The Air Canada Centre, the home stadium for both the Leafs and the Raptors, will offer significant branding space to DraftKings, who in turn will run regular exclusive contests for fans of both teams.

“We're proud to be the first partner for DraftKings in Canada,” said David Hopkinson, MLSE's chief commercial officer. “Their product is exciting for fans and we're looking for many years of continued partnership as they grow their business in Canada”

DraftKings are currently in the midst of a betting scandal, after one of their employees was discovered to have accessed and released insider data and then won US$350,000 on rival service FanDuel in the same week.
