Sportswear giant Adidas has been made an official partner of the annual Leagues Cup competition featuring teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Mexico’s Liga MX.
Contract:
- Adidas named the official match ball provider of Leagues Cup in multi-year partnership facilitated by MLS’ commercial branch Soccer United Marketing (SUM)
- Company to provide soccer balls for all tournament matches and training
- Brand to also provide youth kits for player mascot programme
- Meanwhile, MLS extends its multi-year partnership with The Home Depot
- Company to continue as the ‘official home improvement retailer’ of MLS
- MLS’ CF Montréal name Coke Canada Bottling as an official partner in three-year tie-up
- Coke Canada secures premium brand visibility at Montréal events at Stade Saputo during MLS season
- Montréal fans able to sample new drinks from the company’s portfolio at the club’s home venue
- Other activations aim to provide Montréal fans with ‘premium experiences’
Context:
The Leagues Cup pact deepens the ties between MLS and Adidas, after the league renewed its kit supplier partnership in a six-year deal reportedly worth US$830 million. Meanwhile, MLS’ partnership with The Home Depot dates back to 2008, with the retailer also a partner of MLS outfit Atlanta United.

Adidas’ soccer balls will be on display during the 2023 Leagues Cup, which kicks off on 21st July and has been expanded to include all clubs from MLS and Liga MX.
