Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced the launch a dedicated 24/7 free, ad-supported, streaming TV (FAST) channel in Europe via a partnership with the SportsTribal platform.

The MLB Channel, which is being distributed via SportTribal’s widely available smart TV application, will feature highlights, magazine programming and archive content.

The new digital linear channel will also air MLB Network’s Quick Pitch, a daily highlights show that also features analysis and interviews, as well as content related to tentpole league events such as the World Series and the All-Star game.

The SportTribal partnership is the latest move from MLB focused on the European market. MLB recently confirmed that it will bring regular season matches back to London in 2023, with the St Louis Cardinals set to face the Chicago Cubs in a two-game series at the London Stadium.

“The relationship with SportsTribal is an exciting development for Major League Baseball in Europe as it will serve our fans with more premium content, an integral component to continuing to expand the reach of the game and further growing our international fanbase,” said Dominick Balsamo, MLB’s senior vice president of global media.

“As we look forward to The 2023 London Series next June, this agreement underscores the ever growing-popularity of baseball internationally.”

Joe Nilsson, chief commercial officer at SportsTribal, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Major League Baseball to continue to reach fans in Europe, and see our partnership as an endorsement of our mission to serve fans with their favourite sports, for free, by collaborating with the world’s leading sports leagues and federations.”
