Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Detroit Tigers have expanded their deal with supermarket chain Meijer to become the team’s first jersey patch partner.
- Meijer branding to feature on the sleeves of the Tigers’ home and away jerseys
- Pair agree multi-year extension
- Tigers and Meijer to work together on social initiatives, including the ‘Striking Out Hunger’ programme
The Tigers become the tenth MLB club to secure a jersey patch partner. Meijer’s expanded deal also adds to its agreement with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Detroit Red Wings, which sees it serve as the team’s official helmet partner.
“The Detroit Tigers and Meijer are synonymous with the state of Michigan, and we’re thrilled to extend our partnership with an organisation that has a common vision about community engagement,” said Ryan Gustafson, executive vice president & chief operating officer, Detroit Tigers.
“These are two of the most iconic brands in the state, creating millions of memories for fans and families each year. We appreciate Meijer’s support and partnership, and look forward to working together serving our great fans and customers for years to come.”
The Meijer jersey patch debuted in the Tigers’ win against the Chicago White Sox on 25th May and will continue to be seen throughout the ongoing 2023 MLB season.
