Detroit Tigers name Meijer as first jersey patch partner

Tigers become tenth MLB team to secure jersey patch sponsor.

Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Detroit Tigers have expanded their deal with supermarket chain Meijer to become the team’s first jersey patch partner.

Contract:

  • Meijer branding to feature on the sleeves of the Tigers’ home and away jerseys
  • Pair agree multi-year extension
  • Tigers and Meijer to work together on social initiatives, including the ‘Striking Out Hunger’ programme

Context:

The Tigers become the tenth MLB club to secure a jersey patch partner. Meijer’s expanded deal also adds to its agreement with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Detroit Red Wings, which sees it serve as the team’s official helmet partner. 

Comment:

Coming next:

The Meijer jersey patch debuted in the Tigers’ win against the Chicago White Sox on 25th May and will continue to be seen throughout the ongoing 2023 MLB season.
