English soccer giants Manchester United have confirmed an expanded partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, which will see its Snapdragon brand become the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor starting from the 2024/25 season.
Contract:
- Snapdragon to be United’s front-of-shirt partner and feature on the men’s and women’s teams’ home, away and third kits
- Agreement reportedly worth more than UK£60 million (US$74.8 million) per year
- The Athletic adds that the deal will run for a minimum of three years
Context:
United were reported to be in talks with Qualcomm earlier this week, having initially partnered with the company in August 2022, after current shirt sponsor TeamViewer confirmed last year it would not renew its initial five-year deal signed in 2021.
The new agreement with Qualcomm represents a significant upgrade on the reported UK£47 million (US$58.6 million) per year that the Premier League club had with TeamViewer. The value of the Qualcomm pact falls closer to the UK£64 million (US$79.8 million) per season agreement United had with US car manufacturer Chevrolet, which ran between 2014 and 2021.
Coming next:
Eyes now turn to United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, who are also reportedly seeking a main shirt sponsorship agreement worth up to UK£60 million per year.
