English soccer champions Manchester City have announced that their multi-year partnership with sports drinks giant Gatorade also covers their women’s team.

Gatorade will be listed as the official sports nutrition partner of the Premier League side’s women’s outfit, who currently sit top of the FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL).

Under the terms of the deal, Gatorade will help Manchester City Women prepare for games and training by providing the players with access to its portfolio of sports fuel products, equipment and cutting-edge science through its Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI).

In return, Gatorade will benefit from branding on pitchside LED displays and dugouts at City’s Academy Stadium, where the women’s side play their home games.

In addition, City and Gatorade will collaborate on video content focused on the women’s team that will be shared on the club’s digital channels.

“Everyone at Manchester City is excited to welcome Gatorade as an official partner of our women’s team,” said Gavin Makel, City’s head of women’s football. “As a market leader in the sports fuel industry, Gatorade’s knowledge of what it takes to power athletes to perform is unparalleled and we look forward to collaborating with them to help fuel our athletes on the pitch.”

Lina Nawas, marketing director at Gatorade International, added: “Expanding our ongoing partnership with Manchester City to now also fuel the women’s team is a wonderful opportunity to work with one of Europe’s best women’s football teams as they continue to challenge for titles.”

Manchester City Women are two points clear at the top of the FA WSL, although Arsenal have two games in hand. They play their next game away to Reading on 13th March.
