M-1 Global agrees wide-spread distribution deal

French media rights agency Fighting Spirit has signed a broadcast distribution agreement with mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion M-1 Global.

French media rights agency Fighting Spirit has signed a broadcast distribution agreement with mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion M-1 Global.

Under terms of the deal, which expires at the end of 2012, Fighting Spirit is able to distribute television rights to M-1 Global's various competitions and programming across Europe, Africa and the Middle-East.

Part owned by Russian heavyweight mixed martial artist, the St. Petersburg and Amsterdam-based organises between 40 to 50 events per year including regional competition M-1 Selection and team-based competition M-1 Challenge.

"M-1 Global is extremely happy to announce its cooperation with one of the premier television distribution providers in Europe, Fighting Spirit, the main distributor of combat sports. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship resulting in MMA fans all over Europe being able to see the region's number one MMA organisation regularly, M-1 Global, one of the top three promotions worldwide," said Evgeni Kogan, M-1 Global's director of operations.

Vadim Finkelstein, M-1 Global founder and president, added, "M-1 Global has high expectations in the cooperation with Fighting Spirit; together we'll continue to build our presence in the European market as the region's leading mixed martial arts promotion."

Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
