Top-flight Polish soccer side Lechia Gdańsk have agreed a one-year extension with their main sponsor Energa Group.

The deal will see the energy supplier’s logo continue to adorn the front of the Ekstraklasa team’s playing shirts throughout the 2017/18 season. Additionally, the Polish company will also sponsor the club’s youth teams.

The renewal marks the continuation of a partnership which first began in 2016. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are very happy with the fact that we can continue to work with Energa Group,” said Maciej Bałaziński, vice president of Lechia Gdańsk. “The support we receive from our main sponsor is of great importance for the club. I believe that the agreement we reached is beneficial for both parties in many fields.”

Daniel Obajtek, president of Energa Group, added: “I can safely describe the cooperation between Energa Group and Lechia Gdańsk as exemplary and I would like to thank the club. I believe that thanks to our joint action both Energa and Lechia will achieve more success.”

Lechia Gdańsk finished fourth in the Ekstraklasa in 2016/17, narrowly missing out on qualification for the Uefa Europa League. Piotr Nowak’s side kick off the new campaign away to Wisla Plock on Friday.
