  • App to feature exclusive offers for merchandising, tickets and unique experiences
  • Platform already has deals with Real Sociedad, Crystal Palace, AS Monaco and Marseille

La Liga has signed a three-year global licensing agreement with fan engagement platform Iqoniq, ensuring content and information from Spanish soccer’s top flight will now feature on the company’s app.

As La Liga’s global fan engagement licensed partner, Iqoniq will also include exclusive offers for merchandising, match tickets, unique experiences and more.

Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but the tie-up continues Iqoniq’s march on soccer.

La Liga represents its first major league partnership, but the Monaco-headquartered company is already the new front-of-shirt sponsor for Spanish top-tier club Real Sociedad and struck a sleeve deal with Premier League outfit Crystal Palace at the start of September. Iqoniq is also a partner of French teams AS Monaco and Marseille.

Outside of soccer, Iqoniq has deals with EuroLeague Basketball, the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the McLaren Formula One team.

Iqoniq’s partnership push follows a €100 million (US$115 million) investment from Lux Media Investments, a Luxembourg-based private investment firm, which will aid the platform’s development and expansion.

Commenting on the La Liga agreement, Iqoniq chief executive Kazim Atilla said: “Iqoniq is seeking to revolutionise the world of fan experience, so it is vital for us that we work alongside partners that are equally committed to providing their fans with the best possible engagements and experiences.

“Through this partnership, fans of La Liga will be given new and unique opportunities to engage with their clubs and stars and be fairly rewarded for their ongoing commitment and loyalty. We look forward to working alongside La Liga and their global partners to fulfil our common ambitions in this regard.”

Oscar Mayo, La Liga's director of business, marketing and international development, added: “It’s strategic for La Liga and its clubs to continue increasing their contact with fans around the world.

“In order to achieve this, there’s no better way than establishing this partnership with Iqoniq, the all-in-one fan engagement app that is already working with the Basketball Euroleague, McLaren Racing and several European football clubs, among others.”
