Italian soccer giants Juventus have signed a deal with sports media company Wanbo Sports, with the Chinese firm becoming an official regional partner of the 34-time Serie A champions.
As part of the agreement, Wanbo, which has become a market leader in China and its surrounding region, will contribute to the growth of Juve’s worldwide fan base throughout Asia.
Giorgio Ricci, the club’s co-chief revenue officer, global partnership and corporate revenues, said of the deal: “This agreement confirms the club's desire to establish itself in a market like China’s and will allow us to be even closer to our supporters in Asia.”
The arrangement comes a week after the reigning Serie A champions, who signed Cristiano Ronaldo in a €100 million deal in the summer, announced a multi-year global partnership with blockchain-based fan engagement platform Socios.com.
Juventus will launch their own official fan token to supporters in early 2019. The partnership forms part of Juve’s global fan engagement strategy and comes in a bid to expand their global audience, particularly outside of Europe.
On the field, Turin outfit already finds itself six points clear at the top of Italian soccer’s domestic league, having won all seven of their games thus far.
