Germany’s number one female tennis player Julia Goerges has been named as a brand ambassador for Porsche.

The 29-year-old, who has won four singles and four doubles titles on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour, is a longstanding member of Porsche Team Germany and will now represent the sports car manufacturer as a national brand ambassador from the beginning of 2018.

The deal, of which financial details have not been released, will see Goerges lend her image to Porsche’s marketing campaigns, joining fellow countrywoman Angelique Kerber and Russia’s Maria Sharapova on the car giant’s roster of female tennis stars.

“Since my win at the 2011 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and through my Fed Cup appearances for Porsche Team Germany, I have a really special tie with Porsche,” said Goerges. “It’s a big honour for me to now also be able to represent a company of such worldwide renown like Porsche as a brand ambassador. It makes me proud and happy.”

“With her dynamism and her fighting spirit, Julia Goerges is the perfect match for Porsche,” added Oliver Blume, chairman of the executive board of Porsche AG. “In 2017, she has established herself back at the top of women’s tennis and become the German number one. The achievement deserves our greatest respect. We’re delighted that the two top women in German tennis will both belong to the Porsche family.”
