  • Collectibles will also include moments from recent U19 World Cup and other ICC men’s events
  • First packs to drop on 9th March, priced at US$99 each
  • Meanwhile, CWI taps FanCraze to launch NFT programme and metaverse products

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and its digital collectibles partner FanCraze have announced the launch of a series of women’s cricket non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The ‘ICC Crictos’ will feature some of the most memorable moments from recent ICC women’s cricket tournaments such as the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 and 50-over 2017 Women’s World Cup.

The first pack of NFTs will drop on 9th March and will also feature moments from the recent men’s ICC U19 World Cup, as well as other men’s tournaments from the last 20 years.

The first release will include 500 packs priced at US$99 apiece. Each pack will contain one women’s token, two ‘common’ men’s tokens and a fourth, random Cricto. Each buyer will be restricted to one pack.

The tokens will have six different categories: common, rare, epic, legendary, platinum and genesis, the latter of which is the rarest.

The announcement was made to coincide with International Women’s Day and the ongoing Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

“This very special drop contains classic moments from previous tournaments featuring the biggest names in women’s cricket,” said Finn Bradshaw, the ICC’s head of digital. “And most importantly, this won’t be the last time we celebrate our champion women cricketers as part of the Crictos programme – we are very much looking forward to commemorating fans favourite female moments as we expand the Crictos collection.”

The news came as FanCraze announced a new sponsorship deal with Cricket West Indies (CWI).

The multi-year agreement will see Crictos branding displayed on the front of the West Indies men’s team’s playing shirts throughout their ongoing three-Test series against England.

FanCraze will also be promoted across key pitch and broadcast assets, as well as on CWI’s social and digital assets.

The partnership will also see the pair develop an NFT programme and metaverse products featuring West Indies players and archive footage. An official release said it will provide more opportunities around digital trading cards, games and other experiences.
