I-League soccer side Pune FC has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with global technology services company Infosys.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Bangalore-based company’s logo will feature extensively in Pune’s home stadium at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex and on the shirt sleeves of the Maharashtra-based team.
While financial details of the deal were not disclosed, Infosys vice president Mritunjay Singh said the amount would increase by 20 per cent in the second year.
"We are happy to be associated with a club that has taken serious steps in being leaders to promoting the sport in the way it should be done involving the community and likewise spread the word,” said Singh.
Chirag Tanna, head of operations, Pune FC, added: "It is an absolute honour to tie up with a company like Infosys. The football scenario in India has changed considerably over the past couple of years. Associations between large corporations and I-League clubs will help football become a more broad-based and popular sport. We look forward to this being a long and fruitful partnership between both our companies.”
