English soccer stars Harry Kane, Steph Houghton, Harry Maguire and Phil Foden have become investors in StatSports, a GPS tracking technology firm used by the England national team and the majority of Premier League clubs.
The financial details of the investment in the Northern Irish-based company have not been revealed. The four England internationals, as well as Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, join Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling – who provided backing in 2019 – as the elite soccer players to have put funding into StatSports.
StatSports describes all seven players as having ‘substantially invested’ in the brand, in a move which sees them all take on global ambassador roles.
Kane, Maguire, Foden, Houghton, Chambers, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sterling are familiar users of StatSports’ products, with their respective clubs all existing clients of the company, as well as the England national team. At the upcoming Uefa European Championship the Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Scotland national teams will all use the StatSports technology.
The group of athlete investors will debut as ambassadors for the brand in a new video campaign promoting the consumer version of the system, the Apex Athlete Series.
